Change really is inevitable.
No matter what your opinion is, adjustments are going to constantly be made.
Some changes will fail briefly, and others will have a huge, immediate impact positively.
I touched on the same topic this week in my Monday Motivation video.
We can’t control change.
We can’t stop technology from evolving.
We can’t stop missions to Mars.
We can’t stop expressways from being under construction.
History tells us all of this is going to happen, and it's going to continue evolving at a rapid pace.
What you can control: Your attitude and outlook regarding change.
You have some options:
Especially on social media.
Call ideas that have been in the works for, literally, years and a plethora of people that have invested so much time, energy, and heart into a project to better their community “Stupid. BS. Waste of money.”
And then continue to sit on your couch and do nothing about it.
Learn the entire story. On your own.
Develop an informed opinion.
You may not agree with the project or the change that is happening in your world, but now you are informed and can make an educated opinion and plan of action to back up your opinion.
Recognize how much goes into even an update for your favorite app on your phone. Is it perfect? Probably not…but, is anything?
Give high fives and praise.
Energy is contagious. It is so much easier to say ‘The way it used to be…” with negativity than it is to force ourselves out of our comfort zones to learn a new freeway system or operating system for our computer.
Provide constructive criticism.
Key word: CONSTRUCTIVE.
Feedback is always welcomed when it is done with a smile or considerate tone.
Check yourself, before you wreck yourself.
Your neighborhood is going to change.
Your streets are going to change direction.
Your city is going to grow.
Your cell phone is going to have a newer and better version the moment you unwrap your brand new one.
The way we speak is constantly evolving.
The way we even communicate is changing.
It is going to happen.
We all learn at different speeds and in different ways.
I am begging you…I implore you, to keep an open mind.
To challenge yourself when change happens.
Take a step back and don’t allow yourself to get stuck in your initial reaction and get sucked down the rabbit hole.
Everything we learn in kindergarten applies to us as adults:
Be kind to others.
And always, #DareToBe!
