Keeping Your Word | Between the Headphones 15

March 1, 2017

I want to elaborate further on the video from this week’s Monday Motivation.

Keeping your word, I have found, is invaluable.

Not only do I really love the feeling that others can rely on me when I say I am going to do something, but I trust myself now, more than ever, when I tell myself I am going to do something.

My dreams and my goals are no longer that: Dreams.

I am achieving goals I have set out to reach and am absolutely astounded at what I am capable of.

In fact, I am not even sure I can fully understand what I am capable of yet, because I do not feel I have even come close to reaching my limit.

I remember seeing a video that went viral on Facebook with the author of Living With a Seal, Jesse Itzler talking about the Navy Seal’s 40% Rule and it hit me really hard, right in all the feels.

Every time I have wanted to throw in the towel, figuratively, I remind myself of this rule. Essentially, the rule says that when our brain tells us it’s time to call it quits, we have more ‘left in the tank’ than we even know. In fact, the Seals have quantified that to 40% more left.

The concept of forcing yourself to get uncomfortable to find your baseline is really intriguing.

I am continuing on this adventure to find mine, and have yet to honestly say I have been successful in finding my baseline.

I keep growing and pushing myself while reaching goals that I have only, literally, dreamt about for years.

I want you to do the same.

When your brain tells you to quit, remember the 40% rule and go a little bit further.

Get one more rep on that squat.

Knock out one more phone call.

Write that chapter in your book that’s just sitting there.

Try something new that is going to make you more dynamic and standout.

Get out of your comfort zone and get used to being uncomfortable.

When you tell yourself you are going to do something, actually do it.

Start to trust yourself and your thoughts.

Always,

#DareToBe
